We are thrilled to welcome attorney Emilee Hasbrouck of @RamLawFirm as an adjunct professor and lecturer for the Innocence Project Clinic!
Remember Miyares fired the Conviction Integrity Unit - totaling FOUR people - before he was even sworn into office. In the CIUs 6month existence, we helped free four wrongfully convicted men. I wonder what the stats of this twenty person unit will be.

There is a tiny OCD part of my head that just realized that the herbs in my window boxes are arranged parsley, thyme, rosemary and sage, and wants the world to end.

This moment is a must watch. Judge David Hicks asks a prosecutor in the Richmond’s Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, Clinton Seal, for evidence of a mass shooting at Dogwood Dell on July 4th.
He responds, “No.”

Richmond prosecutors dropped the case against two men police say planned a mass shooting at Dogwood Dell on July 4. Attorneys told the judge this morning the office has no evidence tying the arrest to a planned shooting. More later today on @myVPM .
Not all out of court statements are hearsay -only those asserted for their truth. Not all hearsay statements are excluded -there are a lot of exceptions that let it in. Hearsay includes your own out of court statements. Sometimes an exception applies & they come in. Sometimes not
To state the obvious as we roll into the weekend: it’s hot - drink some water. Invoking the 5th isn’t an admission of guilt. Don’t talk to the cops. Have fun & stay safe!

Thank you to @TheAtlantic and @PaulKix for this expansive profile on my journey from Defendant to Defender as well as the fight to free Terrence and Ferrone. Our journeys are intertwined. And I’m going to keep fighting for their freedom like I fought for mine.
A few friends and I would like to know the brand of these cleaning wipes.
“It’s more important that it is over, than that it is right” is a truly cruel and barbaric motto for a system that convicts, incarcerates, and kills people.

If I see one more GD tweet referring to she-hulk as a new character I’m going to hulk my desk through a window.
Absolutely thrilled that Mr. Haas has been exonerated. I worked on his case before leaving the OAG and our team concluded he was innocent and merited relief. I’m so happy the new administration agreed with that determination and continued to help get him the relief he deserved.
“I hope my case will help others in their cases,” said Michael Haas, “This has been a 28-year journey, but I am thankful that truth and justice prevailed.” #innocent

One of my early juries as a PD was for a young man who was wrongfully accused of robbery. After he was acquitted, his mom gave me the biggest hug. Today, my first case as a retained lawyer ended in a dismissal. Turns out my favorite part of winning is still the hug.
A terrific segment on wrongful convictions and the absolute fuckery involved in fighting them.
Here’s last night’s segment on wrongful convictions and the honorable Steve Harvey: youtu.be/kpYYdCzTpps
