The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in Barbados is inviting professionals in Kenya to enrol in its postgraduate biosecurity courses. The courses focus on securing lives and livelihoods: assessing risks across human, animal, plant and environmental health, designing practical responses, and turning risk knowledge into safer behaviour. Lecturers include specialists currently supporting the Ebola response in Africa.
Courses are blended learning, with no prerequisites, and can be taken on their own or towards a Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or MSc. Each course is 3 credits over one semester and costs USD 1,635. See the promotional material at the link in bio, or contact [email protected]. More at: buff.ly/5kiDhd2

What a beautiful start to our Annual Conference celebrations in St. George!
The children playing, the dominoes, the friendly rivalry at the cook-off. Hundreds of people coming together. We were at home, among family.
There is still so much to do, and our passion and commitment are as strong as ever.
Join us in St. George North for the Barbados Labour Party’s 87th Annual Conference. I will be speaking at 4:30pm.
Building Beyond the Victory takes all of us. Come and be part of it.

What happens in the Pacific Ocean can affect our daily lives here in Barbados. With this very strong El Niño, we must prepare for greater heat, the risk of less rainfall and more pressure on our water supply.
That is why I have asked the Barbados Water Authority to establish an initial $2 million revolving fund to help households purchase water tanks and repay over time through their water bills.
Let us take practical steps now. Conserve water, follow the advisories and look out for each another, especially those who need a helping hand.
As I always say, many hands make light work.
Join the Barbados Labour Party family this weekend for our Annual Conference as we reflect on the work of the BLP-led administration, its record of service and the priorities shaping our nation’s future.

🗣️Mikel Arteta thinks that when Max Dowman has more minutes with the #Arsenal first team he will have no issues with stepping up for us: “Max does. He needs more minutes to do that. It’s a lot to ask him to provide when he does not have a lot of minutes. It’s very difficult, probably unfair.
“But the moment that he starts to have more minutes and games I think he’s going to be able to do that because historically that’s what he’s done. The next step is to obviously add another dimension and he is more than capable of doing that.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on if Max Dowman is an option to replace Saka:
"He's training, and every time he's got a moment to play, he's showing that he's a player that is going to impact the game, so for sure he’s going to have minutes."

With Bukayo Saka sidelined, a bigger stage could be calling for Max Dowman. Just 16, with a chance to turn the hype into history.

🚨🔴⚪️ BARCELONA EYE MAX DOWMAN — ARSENAL REFUSE TO SELL! 💣👀
Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman, with claims that discussions have taken place over a possible transfer or loan move.
The Spanish giants are said to be exploring a loan deal with a purchase option, but Arsenal are reportedly unwilling to agree to a permanent sale.
🔴 Arsenal’s position is clear, according to these reports: Dowman is a major talent for the future, and the club would only consider a loan without a buy option.
Barcelona may admire the youngster, but Arsenal have little reason to give up control of one of their most exciting prospects. 🌟
👀 Will Dowman stay at Arsenal and fight for his first-team future?

Iti’s beyond belief, he and the entire edifice of our senior political security apparatus need keel hauling.
The lack of honour is mind boggling.
Jonathan Powell was not vetted before being appointed National Security Adviser, we can report.

In April, I revealed this as an unforgivably reckless disregard for our national security.
Roles are *always* subject to securing DV / vetting FIRST.
Especially the most senior security role in the Cabinet Office.
Jonathan Powell must go and serious questions must be answered by Labour.

Six months late but good to see the @spectator catch up to the story that Jonathan Powell wasn’t vetted when he was appointed as the National Security Advisor.
Which means he also wasn’t vetted when he was appointed as the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to the British Indian Ocean Territory three months earlier, a role that the Government refuse to confirm the date he was appointed.
Why won’t the Government confirm which day he started his role? What will it reveal about the access he had to the Chagos deal and the FCDO prior to being in post?
“Round about the same time we made a political appointment for national Security Advisor of Jonathan Powell and as far as I remember we appointed him and then we began the DV”
Morgan McSweeney confirms that Jonathan Powell didn’t receive his Developed Vetting security clearance until after he was appointed as the National Security Advisor in November 2024.
He was appointed as the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to the British Indian Ocean Territory on 6th September 2024, meaning he didn’t have the appropriate clearances to view classified documents in August 2024, as I asked the Prime Minister at PMQs last week.
This Government is happy to play fast and loose with national security in order to prop up Keir Starmer’s chumocracy.
