Great work to combat rampant COVID fraud in Oregon by @USAttyBradford, @USAO_OR, @SBAgov, and @SBAOIG. WATCH👇
"COVID‑19 relief programs were meant as a critical lifeline for small businesses and our communities during an unprecedented crisis. These funds were meant to keep paychecks flowing, businesses’ doors open, and communities afloat—not line the pockets of fraudsters." Today, the U.S. Attorney's Office, in coordination with the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Inspector General (SBA‑OIG), announced new criminal prosecutions, arrests, indictments and civil recoveries related to COVID-19 relief fraud. From June through today, the District of Oregon’s Government Fraud Task Force has brought 22 enforcement actions, involving more than $63 million in losses, and resulting in more than $15.8 million in recovered funds. Yesterday, U.S. Attorney Scott Bradford joined law enforcement partners at @ICEgov to transfer Rajinder Kumar, an illegal alien from India, to state custody to face prosecution in connection with the deaths of a newly married Oregon couple. “Those who commit crimes against U.S. citizens will be held accountable in our courts,” said Bradford. “I appreciate ICE’s partnership in facilitating the transfer of this defendant to Deschutes County, where he will stand trial for the deaths of Billy and Jenny Carter. Our thoughts are with the Carter family as we work to secure justice for their profound loss.” ice.gov/news/releases/ice-tu…

Oregonians are voting with their feet. CSI's latest research finds Oregon returned to positive domestic migration in 2024, but the state still lost a net $476 million in adjusted gross income because the households leaving consistently earned more than those moving in. Population is growing again. The question is whether Oregon is attracting and retaining the households that drive long-term economic growth. Read the report ⬇️ bit.ly/4g1Cpfx
