Exactly this quote - “we build properties unsuited to life”
Also can we talk about the fact that many housing associations/leases prohibit hanging washing outside on balconies etc because it’s deemed unsightly

BREAKING: Coroner has ruled that
Awaab Ishak, aged just two, died as a result of severe respiratory condition caused due to prolonged exposure to mould in his home.
The coroner said this “should be a defining moment for the housing sector”- will it be?

Lots to take from this morning's closing statements at the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, but this from Danny Friedman KC is probably worth sharing. The inquiry has shown a world absent empathy. As well as all the technical stuff, that needs to change
Given the news about @madedotcom going under, how likely is it that I’ll finally get the replacement for a broken bed that I ordered 18 months ago… 😬

Construction workers had the highest male occupation morality rate from suicide between 2011 and 2015, so if discussing feelings is 'woke' then this seems like a very good and important thing
On our first big #matleave train excursion today! Leaving London to visit family. As ever, my research on #genderequality is always at the back of my mind. What would happen if you gave mums full autonomy over transport planning & design?
Kudos to @VirginTrains the baby changing facilities were pretty good (even free change mats and nappy bags! 🥳) but in general, whoever puts handdriers next to baby changers has earned a place in hell 😭
And we have a winner ladies and gents…. #hancocktwitterpuns
Some years later, me and @iamtomwake have sadly outgrown the flat 🤰🏻🧔🏻🐈⬛🐈⬛ so I’m repacking those boxes but still listening to @BBC6Music and this time the fabulous @laurenlaverne is helping me through 💪🏼
No greater pleasure than finally unpacking the boxes and boogying in the living room of my #newflat to @CraigCharlesTV @BBC6Music #saturday

Four years since tragedy occurred at Grenfell. Today should be dedicated to the memory of everyone who lost their life, a loved one, a home and has had to live with the aftershocks of what they witnessed. It’s also a moment to reflect on the need to make all buildings safe.
More incredible words from @monaeltahawy on collective grief and recovery
“We must walk—emerge from the pandemic, not regress to “normal”—and talk--talk to our grief.”

After Grenfell, the Hackitt Report said a cultural change was needed in construction. Having looked at this for months now, it is clear a cultural change is needed in how social housing tenants are treated. It’s not a secret, but we don’t talk about it enough. (9/9)
