Greg Ballard’s lawsuit against the Indiana Election Commission will be heard by a judge in Marion Superior Court 3 this Friday Oct 23rd at 11:30 am. Per court records hearing is allotted 1 hour of time.
Engling campaign says they are filing a cease and desist today demanding the Bayh Campaign take down an ad with allegations of reckless driving against Max Engling. Engling Campaign says a full lawsuit is to come.
This from Karen Celestino-Horseman, Democratic member of the Election Commission:
“Anytime a complaint is filed it should come before the commission. People took the time to make the complaint and they are entitled to be heard.”
Libertarian Secretary of State Candidate Lauri Shillings put out a statement on Ballard’s lawsuit:
“"I think it's a good idea for them to meet. Maybe they can address complaints about the website failing while candidates try to file their paperwork before a legal deadline, or
address forms with incomplete instructions that cause confusion."
I do feel the lawsuit is just another way that Ballard is proving he is a remnent of the old party system—with a frivilous lawsuit
Vice Chair of the IN Election Commission, Suzannah Wilson Overholt, tells me she has asked the Commission’s Chair Beth Boyce if she plans to convene a meeting of the Commission to address complaints against 2 candidates for Secretary of State.
By law the IEC Chair is responsible for calling meetings of the IEC. If that doesn’t happen, the Vice Chair may convene a meeting only if the other two commissioners approve doing so
Bayh Campaign Statement on Greg Ballard’s lawsuit filed today against the Indiana Election Commission:
“We agree that the election commission should meet before the election to hear the complaints brought to it." - Jack Tormoehlen
Max Engling accepted an illegal campaign contribution from a dark money group. His response was to file frivolous complaints in an effort to make a mockery of the system.
Engling Campaign Statement on Ballard lawsuit filed today against the Indiana Election Commission.
“Greg Ballard’s continued politicalization of government systems and the process in which they operate showcases he is unfit for this office…,
Sources tell 13 News that Secretary of State candidate Greg Ballard is expected to file a lawsuit later this morning asking the Marion County Superior Court to order the Indiana Election Commission to meet before the November 3rd election.
Ballard wants the Commission to consider 4 pending campaign finance complaints in the race and take any necessary action before Election Day.
Ballard is not asking for a particular outcome.
GOP State Senator Greg Walker tells me he’s endorsing Democrat Beau Bayh for Secretary of State. Walker voted no on redistricting and was defeated by a Trump backed challenger in the primary.
