Me: I see you wrote 6+8=14, how did you figure that out?
S: I added.
Me: What did you add?
S: The 6 and 8.
Me: How did you add them?
S: I put them together.
Me: What did you do first?
S: I took 2 from the 6, put it with the 8 to make 10, then 10 and the leftover 4 is 14.
Coming back to school from maternity leave means making @responsiveclass hopes & dreams a priority. Next up: making rules as a class. @kindersmorgie thanks for the predictable chart idea!
Shout out to @KateSimp1218 & @loots_rachel for validating our students and teachers need to make time to slow down. We must take care of ourselves.. we canât pour from an empty cup. #SEL

Have a student you're struggling with?
Try the 'two-by-ten' strategy:
For two minutes each day, 10 days in a row, have a personal conversation with the #student about anything the student is interested in.
Wonderfully simple and wildly effective.

Such an inspiring morning presentation from @DrTynesCurry to push us to look past the behavior and to see the brilliance in the child. #cgi2019
Replying to @DrTynesCurry
@DrTynesCurry had 3 goals for her Ss at the beginning of the year:
1) Find their voice
2) Discover their purpose
3) Rewrite their narrative

Iâm a 27 year old teacher, and I am still refreshing my twitter account to see if school is cancelled. @SuptUlrich
I was in a rut of giving out story problem after story problem. Decided to step out of my comfort box and try a 3 act task. Great mathematical conversations about a real life situation! Shark bait @gfletchy
Huge shout out to @a11iemery for helping me redo my word wall. Canât wait to introduce more words to help ELLs make connections in math (students saw the M & N mix up) đ
