Was told yesterday that I make great eye contact. I haven't made eye contact with anyone for as long as I can remember.
As long as you're looking vaguely at their face, people generally can't tell the difference though.

When you receive feedback from a supervisor, advising you to undo the changes that your other supervisor advised you to make 🙃
Catch me masking my stims in the office whilst writing about how masking stims is bad 😅 #ActuallyAutistic

My first first author paper is out! 🥳
I interviewed 12 autistic adults about their experiences of 'restricted repetitive behaviours' (e.g stimming, routines, interests, sensory issues)
The paper is free online to read until Jan 21!

Actually ridiculous that putting Asperger's rather than Autism on my travel insurance saves me hundreds of pounds #ActuallyAutistic

Wishing my autistic friends, colleagues and followers a wonderful #AutisticPrideDay
I made you a meme as a wee gift. Hope you like it!
So it's #AutisticPrideDay2021 today so I thought I'd bring this back as a reminder to employers of how they can improve job interviews for autistic people
So I'm #ActuallyAutistic and have been helping out with some interview panels to make them autism (and neurodiverse) friendly ahead of the interviews and um here's a #thread on changes I recommend based on my own experience of interviews! 1/
As an autistic autism researcher I try to take part in other's research. It's so demoralising to fill out the AQ-50 and other standard measures in every single one though. I feel like I answer differently every time and it always feels like I'm having to prove I'm autistic again
I don't think people realise how hard it is to get mental health support. I was referred for therapy by my GP in June 2019. I am still on the waiting list almost two years later #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

"You don't look autistic" isn't the compliment you think it is. I am autistic. We look just like everyone else 🤷♀️ #MyAutisticSelfie #ActuallyAutistic
As an #ActuallyAutistic person, I used to really struggle with brushing my teeth. So here's a thread on what barriers I personally faced and the adjustments I made to make tooth brushing much easier 1/

Now I run a stopwatch on my phone and split up my brushing into ten second increments. I'll do the top side of the teeth in the bottom left half. 10s. Then front side 10s. Then back 10s. Then do the same for the bottom right half, then top left, then top right. 2 mins total. 6/
