EXCLUSIVE: D.C. is launching a recruitment campaign aimed at hiring police officers, corrections officers, firefighters and paramedics.
The nearly $500K push comes as competition from federal law enforcement has worsened D.C. police's long standing staffing crisis.
Named DC Calls, the campaign spans from Maryland's Eastern Shore (where market research found billboards are likely to recruit firefighters) to New York City (where targeted digital ads aim to attract young police recruits).

NEW: Federal prosecutors announce they will retry D.C. Councilmember Trayon White.
They told a judge today they plan to seek a superseding indictment, meaning they may bring additional charges against White. His bribery trial ended in a mistrial last month.

The suspect in the shootout with the National Guard over the weekend has been charged in federal court.
Notably, Jerrell Jackson was originally arrested on charges including assault on law enforcement and D.C. police said he shot the soldier. But new court filings don't contain any such charge and stop short of saying Jackson was the one who fired the shot that struck the guardsman.
