Hey US @StateDept pay your United Nations bills! It's embarrassing as the richest country on earth to be behind on our bills to an org that does so much for the world.

"In Mississippi, the percentage of legislative seats with no major-party opposition in the general election has risen steadily from 63% in 2011 to 85% this year." Ah yes, the magic of single-member districts + geographic partisan polarization. apnews.com/article/uncontest…

The biggest dissapointment in the #OppenheimerFilm is the seemingly complete erasure of the massive impact of John von Neumann on the project… I almost think they didn’t include him because he would pretty easily outshine the title character in terms of brilliance and global impact. Every person involved in the project agreed that von Neumann was the smartest person involved across all of the aspects of the project, and even though he had disagreements with Oppenheimer on the development of the H-Bomb, he defended Oppenheimer during the security hearings. Otherwise, a fantastic movie, but now we need a $200M von Neumann biopic.

As ever, no matter what you tweet, someone will misinterpret it, get angry at something you didn’t say, or literally explain your point back to you. I always return to the same conclusion. Don’t tweet.

1/ Wagner Group fighters have been saying goodbye to their relatives over the past 24 hours and telling them to watch the TV news, which suggests that they may have had advance notice of today's dramatic events with Yevgeny Prigozhin.

I worry Gamers will look at screenshots like this and just see... laziness? What you're looking at is brutal triage.
That Gollum game was never going to be great but damn if this isn’t the funniest “alpha footage vs final release” since maybe the first Watch Dogs

Looks quite similar to my motivations with HyperRogue. Fun goes first. Sad if people categorize games into fun things from which you cannot learn anything, or funless chocolate-covered broccoli. (OTOH assuming cool math = fun game is not good either.)

A group of teen hackers built a game called SineRider, where you maneuver a person on a sled down a slope by writing math equations. "I haven't had this much fun mucking around with an online game/toy since I don't know when." kottke.org/23/05/sinerider-a…

I've loosely followed the development of this game for a while, and am really excited to see it come to life. It brings me back to the carefree days of noodling around with graphing calculator drawings in school. So far I'm impressed with how fun it turns out to be to play.
