Spokesman for the Madison School District calls one reporter a "pig of a journalist, says he "fucking hates" another, and blocks a female journalist from entering a school while allowing in a male journalist.
The wonderful reporter @bethabeyer features prominently in MMSD spokesperson Tim LeMonds communications that became public after a lawsuit

There is a “no words” story coming out of McCurtain Co today involving county leaders discussing killing local journalists, flagrant racism & mocking a woman’s death from an arson. This is a community paper w/no online presence. facebook.com/100057866686935…

Please give this piece a watch. A small local race you may not have your eye on, but nevertheless showcasing how book banning may creep into Wisconsin. Merck with the absolute masterclass in visual storytelling:
ONLY ON 3: A small school board race in Baraboo will mirror nationwide controversy surrounding books in classrooms. While one parent says one of these popular texts shares his child’s culture, a candidate for school board says he’s reading between the lines. @WISCTV_News3

I think we all know the answer to this question.
Is this an "only in Wisconsin" story? Officials worked this week to clean out the historic Portage canal after a fire caused melted butter to run into the water, per PDR reporter Jonathan Richie. @JRichpaperboi wiscnews.com/community/porta…

This is so nuts. They've gerrymandered themselves into a near super majority in a 50-50 state.
.@CNalysis has updated projections for Wisconsin state legislative seats. Almost all projections favor Republicans. They are now giving Republicans a 49% chance of gaining a supermajority in the State Assembly. projects.cnalysis.com/21-22/…

Here's the reality: We reached out to every school rumored to have a litter box. We found one: in a "go bucket" for a possible mass shooting. The rumor is a way to marginalize LGBTQ youth. Here's our full story. It was a lot of work. I hope you read it: nbcnews.com/tech/misinformat…

Folks, I respect the Queen as much as the next person. I offer my condolences to the Brits and all who loved her. But can I please get some news and footage of the effects of Fiona in Puerto Rico? For those who need reminding, they are American citizens in distress. 🇵🇷

I've had much the same experience as what's detailed in this article from @nbc15_madison. With one four-month-old request, the district received my payment in June for what they estimated was two hours of work... still haven't gotten the records: nbc15.com/2022/09/16/open-re…

Please support local news. Journalists need to be able to report on city council meetings, school board elections, & local politics. Water, gas, electricity, education, road repair, police, hospitals, jobs, garbage, real estate taxes, & schools. National news cannot cover it all.

This is terrifying but not surprising given what I saw happening in WI school board meetings. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/-ch…

Journalists should refuse to cover this under these conditions.
Fla Governor DeSantis is attending events that require journalists to turn over all of their footage and answer questions about how they will report their stories. What kind of free press is that? What kind of journalism would that be? Sounds like a Kim Jung Un move to me.
