Trevor Noah is cool and all, but there are so many things wrong with this video: 😐

ENGIE cancels two gas plants in Texas (1.4 GW), citing supply chain constraints. ~10% of Texas Energy Fund capacity gone. Add Howard Energy's 325 MW withdrawal in January. Shows how challenging gas builds are - even with state support. #ERCOT

An 855-megawatt project, nearly 10% of the total capacity in the Texas Energy Fund, just withdrew, citing the impossibility of meeting statutory deadlines. It takes a long time to build gas plants. Solar, batteries, & demand side resources can be deployed quickly. #txlege

We're in an energy emergency. The quickest power plants to build and begin generating are solar, batteries, and wind. If you need more power in <5 yrs, these technologies are critical. #energytwitter
EIA's latest data surprised me - a record 45 GW renewables added to the US grid in 2024,
compared to only 2.5 GW gas.
eia.gov/electricity/data/eia…
expecting 45-50 GW of renewables in 2025, if the current pace of renewable build and attrition of planned projects holds.
And total renewable capacity could overtake gas by as soon as 2027!!

A big question looms over generative AI: what really is its impact on the environment? I spent months investigating a single campus of Microsoft data centers in the Arizona desert - designated in part for OpenAI - in an attempt to find out. Thread. theatlantic.com/technology/a…

By revving up our clean transportation transition and making major investments to make EVs more accessible, we’re supercharging our fight against climate change. #NationalDriveElectricWeek

Has @EnergyInnovLLC made the IRA scenarios available publicly? or plans to publish sometime later?
I could only find this report for now: energyinnovation.org/wp-cont…
Would be great to see all the variables for eg. electricity demand.

finally skimmed the #IRA bill yesterday, and noticed one exciting aspect that I haven’t seen much about in other high-level analyses of this bill: 1/5
I played the @FinancialTimes Climate Game to see if I could cut emissions to zero by 2050. I managed to avoid the worst effects of climate change!
Can you make the tough decisions needed to save our planet? 🌎 ig.ft.com/climate-game/
