Today, I formally rescinded Syria’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism. This action unlocks new potential for Syria’s economic revitalization and progress. The Trump Administration continues to advance U.S. national security to achieve peace, prosperity, and security in the Middle East.

Another historic milestone in @POTUS’s bold vision to give Syria a chance. Today, @SecRubio formally rescinded Syria’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism — another decisive step in Syria’s remarkable journey from isolation to partnership, and from a source of terrorism to a committed partner in the global fight against it.
For too long, this designation was another wall separating the Syrian people from the investment, enterprise, and opportunity necessary to rebuild their nation. Today, another wall comes down. Capital can replace conflict, enterprise can replace isolation, and commerce can continue to triumph over chaos.
This is not simply the removal of a designation. It is another foundation stone in a new U.S.–Syria relationship built on shared interests, mutual security, and shared prosperity — and another example of @POTUS’s “security first, prosperity next” vision becoming reality.
Promises made. Promises kept. Syria has been given a chance — now the work is to turn that chance into enduring peace and prosperity.

Historic day for all Syrians!!
4) We stand with #Manchester, and with all victims, their families, and their friends. We are all united against hate and division.

3) Violence against innocent people, especially in sacred spaces, is something we know far too intimately, and we stand firmly against it wherever it happens.

2) The Syrian community knows this pain all too well. For over 15 years, Syrians of all faiths have suffered devastating attacks on mosques, churches, and places of worship. We have buried loved ones, mourned in silence, and lived with the scars.

1) As a #Syrian, I am absolutely disgusted and heartbroken by today’s attack in #Manchester. We unequivocally condemn this horrific act of violence. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected.

What has happened to humanity?
In Gaza, "every person, the first thing they want to tell me in English or Arabic is 'We need food,’" says @UNICEF spokesperson @1james_elder. "They are saying that because their assumption is the world doesn’t know, because how would this be allowed to happen if the world knew?"
UNICEF on Israel restricting aid to northern Gaza
UNICEF's James Elder' describes a "man-made" crisis acute malnutrition that could be ended if Israel opened access to more aid, especially in northern Gaza where people could be reached in 10 minutes.
