Absolutely thrilled to top off an excellently bookish year at Marr by securing @scottishbktrust Gold Accreditation. Fantastic team effort from all our readers, leaders, ambassadors, partners and the wider Marr community. Hope Santa has some more books for us… 📚 @SAC_Reads

This gentleman has put in a total shift in 2K24 for our most vulnerable learners. He thoroughly deserves a very quiet December. Our learners and staff were utterly enthralled by @G_Armstrong21 ‘s story from 🔪 to 📖. An icon. ❤️ @MarrColOfficial
Brilliant final #StreetBelonging

Read John Burnside’s The Dumb House this week: a dark and twisted book that brought me as close to Iain Banks’ 40 year old The Wasp Factory as I’m like to get in Scottish fiction. Don’t know how this escaped my attention until now - a modern Scottish classic.

Seems quite apt to finally be finishing Andrew O’Hagan’s @FaberBooks panoramic “state-of-the-nation” novel this morning.
Summer holiday day one, book one completed. A young adult book by @margaretmcpens that centres Scottish care experiences. Definitely worth taking the time to read.

It was really fantastic to be able to contribute a chapter to this volume.
I’m now really eager to get stuck in to reading and using this book to support the teaching of different and new Scottish texts in the classroom.
Just out: the Blackwell's 'Companion to Scottish Literature' edited by @GerardCarruthe2
A new milestone for the field with fresh, engaging chapters from several of our members.

That’s John Byrne away. Slabs is one of my favourite plays of all time and Byrne was a totally underrated genius. Going to fashion a duck’s arse hairdo, listen to Terry Dean, and watch Rebel Without a cause in homage. 🥲

An excellent documentary series. But episode 3 maybe of note for those planning to teach Bold Girls next session.

This book made me weep ugly tears. Can’t wait to see how they bring it together on screen.
