Last day #sebconference. Talk by @Nedim_Tuzun on effects of #lightpollution on Daphnia and it's parasite.
- flatworms decrease abundance of Daphnia under #ALAN,
- question that remains how can this reflect on food chain of urban freshwater ecosystem, already under pressure?
Our project leader presented results on the @SEBiology conference.
🚨Highlights:
- both warm and cool lights increased metabolic rates in larvae
- carry-over effect only in juveniles exposed to cool light;
- cool light affected most development, growth and movement of larvae

In urban areas, darkness is increasingly rare, so how is our addiction to light at night affecting other species? Dehua Wang (Shandong University, China) & co show that Bengalese finches are relatively unaffected but zebra finches are in bad shape

Our preliminary results revealed that exposure to #LED lights can affect metabolic rate, development and body growth of crested newts larvae.
