(Foaling part 5) I always test the mares milk to check the colostrum levels. To see if I need to supplement any colostrum to the foal, as the liquid gold has the antibodies to protect the foal until they start to build their natural immunity in about a week's time. #FoalTales

(Foaling part 4) A quick glimpse at the foal slippers, Annie also cleansed well, it can often be a bit uncomfortable for the mare which is why she lay down. She was soon up to nurse her foal, as she is starting to show signs of wanting the milk bar! #FoalTales

The Irish Moilie beef group is setting up a website to highlight the quality of and to market their beef. They are looking for a suitable venue to host the launch. Chef Paula McIntyre will prepare the meat for the event. If you have venue suggestions, we’d love to hear them.

Hygiene is very important when working with neonatal foals,we fully muck the beds out twice a day, (also skipped out twice a day) they have fresh bedding every day.The stables are regularly disinfected. Everyone disinfects their hands between handling each foal. #CodeOfConduct

All Thoroughbred race horses have to be naturally covered. There are risks to this, which is why the mares often wear padded boots and shackles also twitched to prevent the stallion from injury. It also ensures a smooth covering for the mare.
