با برش الوار ۲ متری، شما سه تکه الوار ۲/۳ متری داری که کاملا در دنیای واقعی ممکنه، بهش می‌گن اعداد کسری. در صورتی که در دنیای ریاضی بخش‌پذیر بودن بر مبنای اعداد کسری نیست، بر مبنای اعداد کامله بدون اعشار. مثل این که دو سیب رو نمیشه بین سه نفر تقسیم کرد بدون برش، ولی با برش می‌شه.
