Y’all… I have been overwhelmed this week trying to get everything ready for my daughter’s baptism. Then last night, Rob and I were talking about how much we still needed to do… and it hit me… nothing but the ordinances are important. What do I want her to remember? The gifts, treats, display, and fluff? Or the sacred ordinances that are taking place? I felt this pressure to have everything look perfect… be perfect… I had a list of everything I was supposed to do… and it all became too much. I ended up reaching out to a trusted sister to help me make a program, I’m going to make my delicious chocolate chip and chocolate chipless cookies, and gift her with her own Book of Mormon, Journal Addition. That’s it. No extra fluff. No extra stress. It’s going to be a Christ and Family centered day. She asked her grandpa to baptize her, and her daddy to confirm her, and will have her Brother-in-Law there in the circle as well. Her grandma is speaking on Baptism and I am speaking on the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Two of her sisters are praying. Two of her other sisters are her witnesses. Her cousin who just came home from her mission last week, in Peru, is sharing her testimony. We are singing two her favorite songs: “When I Am Baptized” and “I Will Walk With Jesus”. Simple. Beautiful. Ordinance focused.
