The Yankees and Astros were the two teams that showed the most interest in signing Trevor Bauer while he was with Diablos Rojos in Mexico, sources tell me.
However, both teams eventually backed away without providing a reason for their decisions. This had happened before with other teams that, after making contact with Bauer, also walked away without explaining why.
Here’s Bauer’s latest interview with Rompiendo Sports, alongside @mikedeportes, discussing the situation without mentioning any team names.

Japanese 18-year-old pitching prospect Shoki Oda and his camp met with MLB teams yesterday, including the Phillies and Mets. He is expected to meet with the Cardinals, Blue Jays, Astros, Yankees and others in the coming hours.
Oda would be eligible to sign on Jan. 15, 2027, if the international signing period is not canceled.

So…first impression of Randy “Flo” Flores is I like his attitude. He didn’t come in promising to extend everyone under the sun. He was real and showed the edge that I think a GM should have. First thing on his list, a manager. He referred to an active convo on his phone. #Astros

Brad Ausmus was in the Astros offices on Thursday, multiple people tell told MLB .com. He has previously interviewed for GM and manager positions in years past.

#Rays have traded Triple-A RHP Evan Reifert, a potential 40-man roster add, to #Astros, as @ByRobertMurray 1st reported. Return is cash (and one less decision to make on players to protect from Rule 5 selection).

Happy Halloween! Chat GPT made a ghost image of me. I look a little pale. I don’t drink coffee, but maybe Dr. Pepper in the cup.
