Vanilla spice is from the pods of an orchid that blooms once a year for 1 day. It is naturally pollinated by a specific type of bee that's only found in the tropical regions of the Americas. Most pollination is done by hand & the technique was discovered by a 12 yo enslaved boy.
Crazy that “vanilla” is colloquial for “ordinary” as if vanilla wasn’t an S-tier, insanely expensive spice

I find it unbearable to live in a country that continuously murders children: lack of gun control leading to shootings of elementary school children and our arming and fully supporting an endless child genocide against Palestinians.

For this patient, imo it would be helpful to pursue both diagnoses as it would make her eligible for more treatment options and potentially clinical trials if she was interested in that.

Importantly, this is on the article’s author - not the patient. She doesn’t discuss all of her diagnoses, nor should she. For all we know, she could also be diagnosed with LC too. It doesn’t say. However, responsible journalism should have mentioned LC because of the obvious link

I read this headline and underneath it was a video of a democratic woman running for office saying “we have guns too” and yes, it’s the guns that are part of the whole problem. Children should be safe in school.
The kids killed today in Bend were 5, 8 & 11. My own kids’ ages. Tonight I held them tight, & my heart aches for the parents who now can't hold theirs. Firearms = # 1 cause of death for US kids. If you own a gun, lock it up, ammo separate. Lawmakers: do more to keep kids safe.

Indigenous Peoples Day, is a great day to remind Americans that our country was literally founded on eugenics and genocide. And as a country, we were so racist, that we inspired Hitler himself. That’s who America is and who it has always been. We can make it all different though.

America’s history *inspired* the eugenics policies of Hitler in Nazi Germany. These beliefs saturate our collective history and are reflected today in institutions that create & weaponize environments that are more deadly for those society deems “unfit” historynewsnetwork.org/artic…

This is a really interesting thread on eugenics but has some glaring omissions like the connection with the current pandemic, ongoing US taxpayer funded genocide of Palestine, or that our country was founded on the genocide of Indigenous Americans and built by enslaved Africans🧵
Hey my medicine and public health people! How much do you know about eugenics? Just old pseudoscience, you say? Any idea how much it continues to influence us? Answer: A LOT. I taught a class on the history of eugenics and public health today. Here's what we covered: 🧵

It is also critical for people to remember that it was the Biden administration that normalized eugenics due to the ongoing pandemic, for those folks who think voting is going to solve any of this.
Replying to @ErinSandersNP
3/ One could practically do a dissertation on the pandemic specifically explaining the harmful rhetoric and messaging from our administration, Walensky & Fauci regarding eugenics of “the vulnerable” when it’s *society* that MAKES people vulnerable Here’s “falling wayside” Fauci:

And just to be crystal clear, Biden and Harris also supported the genocide of Palestinians. Once society normalizes eugenics and genocide, there is NO LINE. The Democrats are not going to save us.

Disabled folks have been trying to tell y’all. When we make it socially acceptable to exterminate whole groups of people, it follows that a case can be made for anyone to be exterminated based on the whims of an unjust and immoral society.
