ESSIEN LOCKLEER: ONE OF GEORGIA'S MOST UNDER THE RADAR PROSPECTS Prospect Spotlight | Class of 2027 | Commerce High School (GA) | WR/DB When discussing some of the most dynamic athletes in Georgia high school sports, one name that deserves more attention is Essien Lockleer of Commerce High School. Playing at a smaller school doesn't mean an athlete has small-time talent, and Lockleer is a perfect example of that. At 6'1", approximately 175 pounds, @EssienLockleer brings versatility, athleticism, competitiveness, and playmaking ability to the football field. Whether he's lining up at wide receiver or cornerback, he's the type of athlete who can impact a game on either side of the football. Making Plays on Both Sides of the Ball During the 2026 season, Lockleer has recorded 15 receptions for 262 yards and 5 touchdowns, averaging 17.5 yards per reception. Those numbers highlight his ability to stretch the field, create explosive plays, and turn opportunities into points. But his impact doesn't stop on offense. Lockleer is also putting together a solid season at cornerback, recording multiple pass breakups and tackles. His athleticism, coverage ability, and competitiveness allow him to challenge opposing receivers while making plays in the secondary. Being a productive two-way player is one thing. Being a legitimate playmaker on both sides of the football is another. A True Multi-Sport Athlete What makes Lockleer even more intriguing is that his talent extends beyond the football field. He's also an outstanding basketball player. During the 2025–26 season, Lockleer earned All-State honors. That basketball background translates to the football field through body control, coordination, footwork, ball skills, and the ability to compete in space. In 2025, Lockleer recorded 36 receptions for 470 yards and four touchdowns. His continued production in 2026 demonstrates his ability to contribute consistently while developing as a prospect. Lockleer possesses the versatility, production, and multi-sport athleticism that should have college programs taking a closer look. His ability to contribute at receiver and cornerback gives recruiting staffs multiple ways to project him at the next level. At RecruitNEGA, we believe talent is talent regardless of classification. Essien Lockleer is another reminder that some of Georgia's most intriguing prospects are playing in small towns on Friday nights. College coaches, don't overlook Commerce, Georgia.
