I can't believe the National Chief had to say this but I am glad she did. Dear Churches (and grifters of any sort), do NOT raise money off of residential schools. nationalpost.com/news/canada…
This sucks
Grow up people!
Cuz a bunch of kids in fringe chanting “scalp ‘em Indians, scalp ‘em” is honor, right?
And any Natives who attend @pngisd should prolly just accept their classmates dehumanizing them cuz “tradition”, right?
Shame on @DisneyParks hosting this. Nostalgic racism is RACISM.

These parents are placing this baby in serious danger. It shows how radicalized and detached from reality some of these people are. Hope the baby gets to a place@of safety

I don't think anyone has reported on this yet.

Criminal courts are so backed up due to COVID-19 that Ontario has designed certificates to incentivize those who can't afford lawyers to plead guilty.
The new Judge-Led Intensive Case Management Court certificates come during "Access To Justice Week."

Tackling white supremacy and our social work profession. Tough subject but well worth writing. I hope you enjoy our perspective on reconciliation.

The most beautiful burial I’ve ever witnessed. After over a 100 yrs the children who died at Carlisle Indian Boarding School are laid to rest by the youth of this generation. Wrapped in buffalo robes and back to the comfort of Grandmother Earth in their ancestral Lakota lands.

After the MMIWG report came out, many in the journalism establishment fell over themselves rushing to deny that Canada's treatment of Indigenous people was and is genocide.
I wonder if any will be honourable and strong enough to apologize. I won't hold my breath.

Bracing for Marieval Indian Residential School tomorrow.
Non-Indigenous folx to kindly respect the community and give us space.
And, please don’t make it about you or expect labour from us. We can’t even grieve without being asked to perform lately and it’s exhausting. – at London, Ontario

Marieval Indian Residential School was closed in 1997.
Any individual who says “this was in the past” and “get over it” needs to realize that 1997 was just 24 years ago. Which in the grand scheme of things isn’t long ago.
Have some compassion.
And, if you can’t be quiet. – at London, Ontario

I feel like I’m the only one who was ever following the rules. I put my whole life on hold at the most difficult time imaginable, and I’m just now finding out that everyone else just kept going, traveling, half-following public health guidelines. I feel like a chump.

You can make a difference today! Tell your MP to vote yes in Parliament this afternoon to end the federal government’s litigation against Residential School Survivors and this generation of First Nations children.

aanikoobijigan is the Ojibwe word for great-grandparent (or ancestor) and the word for great-grandchild. It's a connective way of thinking, cyclical rather than linear time. And as I step into writing a chapter on restoring human relations that's an interesting thing to think on
