PS Dr Chris Kiptoo welcomed the European Union Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Andreas Peschke, and Mr Andrew McDowell, Director General of EIB Global, to the National Treasury for discussions on development financing, infrastructure investment and trade. EU and European Investment Bank support is contributing to key infrastructure projects, including the Kwa Jomvu- Mariakani Road along the Northern Corridor, valued at approximately KSh 17.5 billion, the Mwache Multipurpose Dam, the Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Project, and the Last Mile Connectivity Programme, which is extending electricity access to households. The EU - Kenya Economic Partnership Agreement, which entered into force in July 2024, has also strengthened trade opportunities by granting Kenyan exports duty-free, quota-free access to the EU market. Kenya continues to pursue greater foreign direct investment, stronger investor confidence and increased private capital mobilisation to finance infrastructure and support sustainable economic growth.
