This week, Reception have been sharing the story of the Gruffalo. We enjoyed slicing and chopping fruit to make our very own Gruffalo Crumble linked to our new learning! 🍎🍌🫐 🥧

Reception have been busy learning about Remembrance today. We have been using play dough and loose parts to make our own Remembrance poppies ❤️

Pendle had a great day finding out all about Scotland as part of European day of languages. They’ve been busy speaking Gaelic, finding out about bagpipes and traditional Scottish clothing, designing a family tartan and making shortbread! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Everest class enjoyed experimenting with circuits as part of our unit on electricity.

Reception are beginning to learn about the festival of Diwali. Today, the children have loved joining in with our special visitor, Prags, who taught them some traditional dancing. They each got to try on special clothing and learned some great dance routines. 🎶 🪔

Reception have been learning lots of new sounds in phonics. They have been practising reading and recognising the sounds; m, a, d, s, t, and i. This morning the children had a go at matching the sounds to the letters and then coloured them in the correct colours to match.

🏔️ Our epic Ben Nevis adventure took us back in time! Year 4 stepped into an Anglo-Saxon settlement where they learned to weave, thatch, forage, and even train as Saxon warriors! 🛡️🔥

Year 3 enjoyed taking part in our Stone Age Day and were fantastic at fire making. The children used a fire steel to make fire, helping each other out and persevering when they found it tricky. They especially enjoyed a toasted marshmallow at the end! 😋

Our new starters in Reception have had a wonderful time settling into school life. They have been making lots of new friends, exploring the setting, and working together to create some fantastic creations. They have loved sharing stories and working on their fine motor skills.☺️

Pendle Class have enjoyed finding out all about our digestive system in Science. They used the @curiscope t-shirts to see inside the body before creating a model to show what happens to food at it travels through our digestive system! #PendleEPH

Olympus had a great time last week learning to be safe on the roads during Bikeability training. There was no better way to spend two sunny days than out and about on a bike!

A huge thank you to all the volunteers (too many to list) who came to the postponed eco day at school on Saturday 5th July. We were inundated with willing hands (including some very small ones!) who whizzed through the long list of jobs and even moved onto our other wish list.

🎓 Ben Nevis Class explored the wonders of the inner ear! After researching its parts, they brought their learning to life by crafting detailed 3D models using Play-Doh. Fantastic teamwork, creativity, and curiosity on display! 👂🧠🎨 #STEM #Teamwork #CreativeLearning

A special mention has to go to Joshua Marston in @K2EPH for achieving a staggering 740 hours of learning through Children’s University; the most earned across Lancashire! His awards were truly remarkable and he thoroughly deserved the outstanding achievement award! @LancashireCU

We enjoyed a fantastic graduation ceremony at UCLAN this afternoon for our Year 2 and Year 6 Children’s University pupils. A celebration of their tremendous resilience, aspiration and determination towards their learning. Huge congratulations to them all! @LancashireCU

EYFS have enjoyed learning about pirates this week. We have been busy making treasure maps to help us develop our positional language. 🏴‍☠️

All the children had a great night’s sleep after our WW2 sleepover! This morning they enjoyed a breakfast fit for an evacuee and even had an early dance lesson with the wonderful Miss Pearson. Spirits are high and we’re ready for a fantastic day ahead! 💃🍞🪖 #WW2Experience
