The crazy shit about this is no matter how you slice it, it’s a nightmare scenario.
If the fires are deliberate to cash in on insurance and speed up gentrification, then it’s ’The Bronx is Burning’ all over again. Ask your elders.
But if the fires are accidental, it is likely due to outdated infrastructure issues never being addressed, fire safety neglect and various other code violations because owners treated these places like their personal ATM instead of reinvesting in structural integrity.
Either way, The Bronx suffers.
