Some said it was inconceivable, but my neighbors put on an incredibly fun outdoor screening of The Princess Bride this weekend!
This week I introduced legislation to make it easier to build sidewalks.
Too many people are hit on our roads and we must make our streets safer for everyone.
Check out this article: How the Montgomery County Council plans to accelerate sidewalk construction

There is something deeply wrong with a political system that allows one trillionaire to buy his own personal U.S. Senator.

Yes on 3 is No on Trump. Spread the word. This is our chance to fight back against extreme MAGA gerrymanders from Texas to Florida. Vote Yes on 3 and fight back against Trump.
Better commutes are coming to New Hampshire Ave!
The Transportation & Environment Committee held a hearing today on the proposed Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) from the DC border at Eastern Ave to Randolph Rd.
Investing in better transit means a more connected community.

It’s time to end gerrymandering in every state.
The solution, however, must be a federal one that establishes fair redistricting rules nationwide.
Until Congress or SCOTUS ends partisan gerrymandering, Maryland cannot unilaterally disarm.
I will be voting for Question 3.

Local media … especially including university media … is important in these troubled media days…
“Liberal democracies are threatened today not because they failed to deliver prosperity that was unimaginable to our predecessors, but because they allowed so much inequality and alienation and powerlessness to fester amid that prosperity.”

I appreciate the student journalists at my alma mater, American University, for covering Maryland’s data center debate and my successful effort to pause new data center development.

Hey dems, progressives, leftists, etc. We are all in a big tent right now and we need to win the House and Senate. Support all our candidates and lock in. The goal is to stop Donald Trump and the far right.
Let’s go Abdul, James, Mary, Peggy, Troy, Angie, Sherrod, and more!
The alternative is to provide housing far away from job centers and transit — which requires deforestation and taking of farms, long commute times, increased carbon emissions and demands for widening of highways.
The choice is ours.

Montgomery County is doing a lot of things right but all of these emerging dense neighborhoods are greatly diminished by the massive roadways & associated traffic that comes with it - if these areas are going to really thrive you will need to address this.
This is how you do transit oriented development 💪
BIG PLANS FOR NORTH BETHESDA.
Metro is moving toward a deal with Hines to transform 13.9 acres beside the Red Line into “The Nexus,” a massive transit-oriented district featuring:
• A new north Metro entrance
• 2+ million square feet
• 809 homes
• 930,000 square feet of life-science space
• 100,000 square feet of retail and commercial space
• The @UofMaryland Institute for Health Computing
Nearly $119 million in public funding has been identified for infrastructure, the station entrance and the institute.
This is how you turn a Metro station into an economic engine.
