Among infants with a family history of allergy, a maternal diet high in eggs and peanuts during pregnancy and lactation did not result in a lower risk of egg or peanut allergy at 1 year than a standard diet. Full PrEggNut trial results: nej.md/4yE7qNg
Editorial: Maternal Allergen Consumption and Infant Food Allergy — Reassurance, Not Prescription nej.md/46llW0e

ALT Two figures from an Original Article published in the New England Journal of Medicine article titled "Trial of a Maternal Diet Rich in Eggs and Peanuts to Reduce Infant Allergy." The top figure shows the weekly egg intake, and the bottom figure shows the weekly peanut intake. The trial name, PrEggNut, is in parentheses after the title. The NEJM identity sits at the bottom.

Why is glutathione, rather than cysteine, the major cellular thiol? Our new work by @ToshiNakamura51 suggests unlike other amino acids, excess cysteine is intrinsically toxic to mammalian cells via mitochondrial iron accumulation. @RockefellerUniv

The first time you start a research lab, there’s no manual.
So I made one.
A practical toolkit for postdocs and early-career faculty launching their first lab: hiring, startup planning, collaborations, and building a sustainable research program.

When we eat or drink sugar, it causes a sudden spike in the hormone insulin, which can serve as a catalyst to fuel certain types of cancers, Dr. Lewis Cantley, a Harvard professor and the then-head of the Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Center, said in 2012.
His advice: don't eat sugar, and if you must, keep it to a minimum. cbsn.ws/3OHDvlm
