"They (outside backs) tend to go really wide (overlap) ... but he (Valerius) comes inside that really stresses their defense" -Manny
Great point here by Manny on the decision Valerius made. I also enjoy the early 3rd-man pattern to spring Triantis (saw this a lot more this past game in our build-up), and his subsequent charging run forward.

Follow-up on last week’s CDM & full-back rotation thread: vs. LAFC, I noticed two further actions building on top of it within first 10 mins of the match.
1️⃣ Weak-side overload: Pereyra floats wide for possible over the top ball, long diagonal (with Markanich), or central progression via Triantis. Leaves Díaz with a decision.
2️⃣ Dynamic rotations: On ball side, Chanca moves centrally from the wide area to fill the space Gene vacated, while Valerius pushes high to maintain width - eventually forming a wide triangle, with Pereyra slowly coming over to help.
The team has looked far better on the ball the past few games.

New #Loons CEO Christina Hennington misses the mark when answering a fan question on club's low roster spending 💰 United's two Designated Players producing at level to warrant more transfer investment 📈

100% worth a listen. Maybe the best interview of a #mnufc player I've ever listened to. Wil was super open about a lot of difficult questions.
"Special Episode: A Conversation with Wil Trapp" is live!

4 things I really liked in this sequence vs. SKC (in order of pauses):
1. How this back 4 progresses the ball differently vs the back 5 system. Two rotations happen frequently: Triantis/Valerius and Markanich/Gene. It gets our CDMs on the ball more easily outside of the defensive block, allowing them to progress the ball rather than our CBs.
2. AZ's technical skill in tight spaces & his ability to find space between the lines makes him extremely difficult to mark. End product still needs improvement.
3. Gene often plays too slowly by not anticipating his next move. This sequence addresses that concern, and hopefully we see this more often.
4. A goal coming from a cutback is far higher vs a cross. Often too wasteful in final third, need better decisions like this. (Though a 1v1 back post with Ant isn't a bad idea, lol)

Randomly hearing 'Wonderwall' while out for a walk in Salvador. 🙌

About to watch Reynoso and imagining him, Pereyra, and Quintero as our three AMs in a 4-2-3-1.

Love Bongi's composure here. Instead of forcing a 1v1 or rushing a cross to Caldeira, he lets the play develop for a split second & finds Ant with a great cutback.
"Decelerating serves, incredibly, to gain time and to create spaces that were hidden" -Valdano

Update on Ramirez vs. Tani vs. Yeboah:
#MNUFC
It's been an absolutely dire few months for #MNUFC. I don't have much to add to what's already been said, so let's just look at one of the few good/interesting build-ups from the last game, lol:
If #MNUFC loses next weekend vs. Seattle, Knowles has to go. Give Cruz a 2-week international break to get up and running:

It's been a while since #MNUFC hosted a chalk talk in the Stadium Club. Wonder why they wouldn't want to take questions from fans right now...

Really like how early Chanca reads this situation. He starts his full sprint before the pass even happens, anticipating Trapp getting the ball to Pereyra, who has plenty of space to turn upfield & send him through.
