Update: Some seats were freed up and I could get a decent one.

Logged in exactly when check-in opens in my @British_Airways flght for tomorrow and I got auto-assigned the worst seat and incredibly ALL other seats are "taken".
Not what @ExpertFlyer says tho...

U can set up alerts on expertflyer.com that tells you how full your flight is (to see if it makes sense to book seats or upgrade), and set up alerts for when new seats are freed

Update 5: Normal air traffic operations are resuming gradually across the U.S. following an overnight outage to the Notice to Air Missions system that provides safety info to flight crews. The ground stop has been lifted.
