I just finished reading a research paper on the Ososun landfill that is situated in Ojota, Lagos, and its effect on the hand-dug well water and boreholes of about 2km radius around the place. This paper was published 10 years ago and the findings were dangerous. Guys, we are not safe.

This X platform really doesn’t seem to favor Nigerians, and it’s honestly so sad. Nigerians put in so much work, build genuine communities, and yet getting rewarded for that effort feels like a different battle entirely. It’s frustrating to watch people put in the same energy, grow their accounts, only to feel like their location determines how much their efforts are worth. Nigerians deserve fair opportunities, too. 🙂

Asked prof. About carbon credits and whether Nigeria trades carbon, his response left me off the hook; he said “The amount of carbon emissions in Nigeria is more than enough at a deadly concentration” Now El niño...

El niño is projected to make a significant impact in Nigeria and someone says, " What concerns Nigeria about climate change” The highest level of foolishness I ever read online.

Whatever we give the environment, we receive. The shift was caused by several activities either anthropogenic or geogenic.
El Niño is trending because a disaster that causes extreme heatwaves or rainfall due to shifts in the Pacific Ocean may hit Nigeria, with about 451k global casualties projected within 6-months. [Explained] So basically, the cool wind that usually push away warm surface water westward to (Indonesia & Australia) from the eastern pacific, (South America), becomes weak, it’s called “trade winds”. Then, the warm water and its hot air that is supposed to go towards Indonesia and Australia, starts going back to Southern America. This occurs every 2-7 years and is known as El Niño. When these regions cool abnormally, it is called La Niña; when neither condition occurs, it is ENSO-neutral. Together, they form the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) climate cycle. Now you know what El Niño is right? The atmosphere is a system, connected, and the Pacific Ocean is one giant heat source that is plugged to this system. Think of it like a big boiling pot. Therefore when it (Pacific) changes wind direction, it influences circulation of hot air across the atmosphere. So some countries may get nothing, some may get, depending on the intensity of El Niño. Which translates to either drought or extreme rainfall, depending on what the air pushes to your own region or area. — El Niño Normally, the sun heats oceans, lakes and rivers, causing moisture to rise, form clouds and produce rainfall. In this case with the abnormal Pacific Ocean, that moist warm air, stops going up easily as vapor in the east (Indonesia and Australia) and shifts to South America. So, the normal rainfall or heat that’s supposed to happen in Indonesia & Australia, starts to happen in South America. Automatically the first people who’d experience the weather change is Indonesia and Australia. Indonesia and Australia typically depend on these winds for their normal rainfall patterns. When they weaken, they experience drought, extreme heat and wildfires, like the ones you hear about in Australia; while parts of South America may experience increased rainfall and flooding. Essentially, El Niño disrupts normal weather patterns, making rainfall and temperatures harder to predict and extreme in affected regions. This time, WMO and NOAA’s forecast suggest the atmospheric change could reach parts of Nigeria too, as it already experiences rainfall impacts associated with the current El Niño. Until then, Nigeria could experience extreme heat, rainfall, flooding or drought, but there is no cause for alarm, and no official confirmation suggests that El Niño will trigger these events in Nigeria. While El Niño can influence rainfall patterns, it cannot determine Nigeria’s weather alone, as the West African monsoon also plays a major role; This is the seasonal movement of moist air from the Atlantic Ocean into West Africa. El Niño already started in September, and is developing. According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), it is expected to peak around December 2026 and potentially persist into March 2027, as the strongest recorded Super El Niño recorded. In 1877/78, a powerful El Niño caused over 50 million fatalities, estimated 3% of the world’s population. Follow @TrendingEx for daily explanations!
