Dr Fauci is right. The pandemic phase is over. The Gov't failed to contain the virus. It's now endemic. Everyone without a mask will get 1-3 infections every year. This will redefine every part of healthcare. Instead of being excited about it - we should be frightened.

As an epidemiologist, I am troubled by efforts to downplay rates of infection, as well as by the patchwork of varied reporting strategies states are developing. Yes, hospitalizations and deaths are crucial metrics. They are also "lagging" indicators. We need stronger monitoring

New study shows white Americans who learn about Covid's racial disparities have: 1) reduced fear about Covid 2) reduced empathy for those vulnerable to Covid 3) reduced support for Covid protections White supremacy directly increases Covid's harms. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

1. Something interesting is happening with #COVID19 in MA, where case incidence appears much higher right now in wealthier suburbs. My guess is one of two things is happening, neither of which bodes well. 🧵

Fam friend got covid from neighbor who needed help getting up stairs. Neighbor tested + next day. Fam friend got sick soon after. Doc said, “Don’t worry. Stay home 5 days & then go back to work in a mask. Any mask is 👍🏼.” She did, & infected 4 colleagues. Thx, @CDCDirector!

Attacking someone’s access to essential healthcare is eugenics and is still a means to eradicate the “undesirable.” We must push back on any effort to cut marginalized people from the care they are entitled to. Trans rights are human rights. #ISTANDWITHTRANSPEOPLE

Humans consider the audience to their words and how that audience will respond and (ideally) adjust accordingly! That’s to our credit! BUT you also have the choice to say what you want! You can tell the joke anyway, that’s your choice, but the other party may be hurt. 3/

To most people this would seem like a completely understandable, likely admirable, decision. We might call it tact or decency. But to people like the NYTimes editorial board, this would be an example of troubling self-censorship. 2/

Imagine this: a person knows a joke involving a car crash. It’s a little crass but often gets a laugh. They’re getting ready to tell it to a new group when they remember that someone in that group lost a family member in a car crash. They refrain from telling the joke. 1/

Things I want to do when it's safe: - Go to the dentist - Shop for my own damn groceries - Kiss someone Things many nondisableds want to do when it's safe: - They're acting like it's safe now

Trying to figure out how we got from, "N95s are necessary everywhere," to, "Absolutely no masks are allowed in this highly contagious indoor setting," in a matter of 4 weeks.

The CDC is singlehandedly disabling people in extremely high numbers.

I watched Chernobyl this week. One thing I learned: Despite the widespread understanding that the radiation killed & disabled thousands of people (one model estimates 93k), statistics were never collected. The official death tally is 31. But worse: A group of physicians 1/

Get ready to be triggered because I’m offending everyone with this post. I built a 🇺🇸 mask factory in six months capable of producing millions of N95s and Surgical masks every day. Here’s why I don’t think America cares about COVID or masking anymore. 🧵 1/17

Fascinating how economists aren't factoring in the impacts of a significantly smaller workforce & skyrocketing disability claims via LongCOVID when they say the economic impact will be astronomical if we mitigate COVID (& reduce disability) in any way. Capitalism hates itself

gotta side with the experts: it IS shocking that covid cases spike every time we remove all restrictions. literally could never have seen that coming. especially on the nine hundredth iteration of its occurrence. who could reasonably have been expected to predict this

Masks have probably saved my life. The times I got sick? It was because others near me weren't wearing masks. Don't tell #HighRiskCovid19 people it's our job to protect ourselves, & no one else's. We're only protected when everyone is protected.

1/ Over time, the effects of #covid19 on heart, brain, lungs, vascular system, sensory system, kidneys & more will become better understood Until then, any reassurance that massive levels of infection are ‘ok’ for society is a gamble—a gamble with unknown long-term costs.

Imagine not feeling terrible that your actions directly lead to disabling & killing people. And yes, I'm talking about Rochelle Walensky.

There's a big reality gap right now between people who are actively staying on top of COVID research & those who just trust the current guidelines. There's no judgment here, but I'd like to try to communicate the worldview of the former based on what we know about COVID now: 1/
