Brave Citizen Review
I haven't been sharing my thoughts online much recently, but I just had to talk about this movie because it's made me excited about films again after a break from Hollywood. It reminds me of a mix between "Rocky" and "The Equalizer," with its revenge theme from "The Equalizer" and the MMA boxing action from "Rocky." The story is about a former MMA fighter who is now a temporary teacher at a school with a severe bullying problem. When she discovers an untouchable bully pushing a student to the brink, she decides to step in, donning a kitty mask and giving the bully a taste of his own medicine. There are three amazing fight scenes, each one better than the last, and they feel more realistic than the typical action film where one person beats many. It's more of a one-on-one fight, like in "Rocky."
The actress, although small, is incredibly convincing in her role. The fight scenes are not only well-done but also give you a feeling of satisfaction as you watch the bully get what he deserves. And it's not just a one-sided fight; it's a tough battle, especially since the teacher is a small woman facing a much larger and experienced male opponent. I've watched this movie three times already and I plan to see it again. If you like straightforward and gratifying action movies, I highly recommend this one.
"Godzilla X Kong" is like the ultimate movie snack - it's that big, loud, munch-on-your-popcorn kind of movie. Picture this: epic smackdowns that'll probably get a thumbs-up from most folks looking for some thrill. But, oh boy, the characters in this flick? They all seemed to have enrolled in clown school - and not the cool, red-nose, balloon-animal-making kind. They're dishing out Oscar-worthy overacting and lines so cheesy, you could make a pizza with them. Trying to tickle your funny bone, for sure, but my laughter must've been on vacation because it didn't show up. Not even once. Actually, it kinda grated on my nerves so much, I wondered if it zapped some joy out of the whole experience for me.
But hey, should you give it a shot? If you can surf the waves of super silly chit-chat without wiping out, you're in for a treat with some seriously awesome monster throwdowns. Grab your popcorn and get ready for some fun - just remember, it's a roller coaster of ridiculousness with some pretty cool punches thrown in!
Lol 🤣 this just made me laugh. It's part of an article on the booming industry of ultra short mini TV series in China. See the below paragraph.
"Heart-wrenching series are very profitable with middle-aged female viewers. These stories feature a recurring trope: a female protagonist suffering at the hands of an abusive, unfaithful husband who typically calls her a “bitch” and forces her to donate blood to another woman he likes. Viewers sympathize with the protagonist and the shows always end happily, with the husband returning home to reconcile with his wife."
There seems to be some Cantonese words that are used by the Koreans and Japanese as well. I found one that's used by both, "kantan" which means "simple" is the same in both Japanese and Korean. And it seems that Koreans share quite a lot of cantonese words. Maybe even up to 10%. I may actually be able to learn Korean 😅
