Without Avery Johnson, this team just doesn’t have the juice it needs.
It’s incredibly apparent. It changes the whole game.

If you walked away from this game saying K-State needs to move on from Avery Johnson… I don’t know what to tell you.

Knuth played well KSU has been outmanned up front all year. Quit paying 2 mil for a QB when you need to pay for the big dogs up front.
Here’s the hard truth about Kansas State:
-The defense is terrible
-The offense is built on Avery Johnson's explosive plays - not the offensive line
-Avery was 17th in QBR before KU - with no legitimate receiving threats
-Opposing defenses stack the box bc of the average to below average o-line + no explosive receiving threat
*The defense is terrible*
The fall off from an already below average 2025 defense has been the most glaring issue
Ends crashing on roll outs
Missed tackles
Botched assignments
It’s not good and it’s hard to watch
This is true.
When Snyder coached it happened often enough to become eerie - like clockwork when I'd start to think "why aren't we moving faster" - boom 30 yard explosive play out of nowhere

It obvious teams start throwing the ball wanting to catch up. Point being abandoning the run down two touchdowns in the third quarter is panicking. One of Bill Snyder’s great assets was a mental timer like no other. He knew how long to persist with the run and still have time.
The Avery Johnson criticism is so misplaced
The 0-4 stat is like saying teams that run the victory formation never lose. It ignores game script/opponent
Kansas State passing is below national average but watching those WRs inability to track the football and run routes....explains a lot
K-State is 0-4 against FBS teams when Avery Johnson throws 35 or more passes.
Additionally, in Avery Johnson starts, when passes outnumber runs, K-State is 2-8 with wins against North Dakota (2025) and West Virginia (2024). One of those losses was @ Houston in 2024 as well.
Treating him as a volume pocket passer like we did @ Cinci cannot happen again.

Avery takes too much heat from fans given the number of mistakes from players around him.
Kansas State talent gaps are glaring tonight. Offensive line. Defensive line. The game starts there.
Jayden Daniels left elbow injury. Again. At this point surgical management has to be on the table
On average that would be about 8-10 weeks of recovery
injurypronedoc.com data on hamstring strains
Nico Collins hurt his hamstring during Wednesday's practice, reported by Houston Chronicle. Missed five games due to a hammy pull back in 2024.
Crucial MRI results coming (hopefully) tomorrow. WR routes run last week on 42 CJ Stroud dropbacks:
1. Nico Collins 37
2. Xavier Hutchinson 29
3. Kayshon Boutte 27
4. Jaylin Noel 15
5. Jared Wayne 8

Tales of Patrick Mahomes’ demise were greatly exaggerated
The mobility is still there

Yeah, Patrick Mahomes is fine.

Heuristic I always follow and @LateRoundQB reiterates often: *usually* in *most trades* the side of the trade who ends up with the best player wins the trade
Pickens. DeVonta. Burden. McBride.
