See how @OxonFireRescue cuts will affect you 👇
And join Oxfordshire firefighters Tuesday morning to send a loud and clear message to the Council - that firefighters oppose every single one of these dangerous cuts.

Officers School must be a vital part of the @fbunational calendar – bringing officers together to share experiences, tackle key issues like workloads and wellbeing, and strengthen our collective voice.
Proud of the work being done by the @FBU_ONC in organising officers across the union.

The FBU are holding the first officer school in 5 years.
The aim is to empower officer members to become more active. Discuss key issues affecting officers and all FBU members. To share experiences and develop our understanding of the grey book.

On Firefighters' Memorial Day, we honour the lives of firefighters across the world, including the 2,300 UK firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
At 12 midday, fire and rescue service workers across the UK will line up at their station, control room or other workplace to take part in a minute’s silence.

I am immensely proud to be elected as the General Secretary of the Fire Brigades Union.
I know our great union deserves and requires unwavering commitment to progress the issues that matter most to our members, to bring about improving the working lives and conditions of firefighters & control firefighters, and ensure that our members get to work in the safest conditions possible, in a sometimes already dangerous environment.
As the General Secretary I will give that unwavering commitment. I will respect and protect the legacy of our Union, but I also know where our Union needs to move forward to. The issues that matter to our members today are different and similar to the issues that mattered to our members in 1918.
We are guardians of the posts we occupy. I will ensure I strive to leave the Union to be in a better place tomorrow than today. I will ensure I strive to make sure that I improve the pay, terms and conditions and health & safety of today’s and tomorrow’s firefighters.
Amongst many things, I stood on making sure Union leadership is visible and communicates effectively with members. In the coming days and weeks, as your General Secretary, I will communicate to members the work I am already undertaking.
On a personal note, I’m deeply grateful for the support my wife, children, mum, family, and friends have given me throughout my career, starting as an 18-year-old following in my dad’s footsteps. Without their support and understanding, I couldn’t have pursued this journey, and for that, I’ll always be thankful.

40th Anniversary
The Flexible Duty System [FDS], as negotiated by the FBU, is 40yrs old today.
This National Joint Council (NJC) duty system provides 24/7 Fire-and-Rescue Officer availability for the UK.

Vital that the FBU engages with this issue.
The English Devolution White Paper proposes:
- Mayors will by default take responsibility for Fire and Rescue Services where boundaries align with PCCs.
- Exploring Mayors overseeing multiple Fire and Rescue Authorities across wider areas.
We must ensure firefighter voices are heard in these discussions.
