The FCC recently determined that a manufacturer of two types of devices—a dashboard camera and a wireless video transmitter—included chips within the devices that are produced by a subsidiary of Huawei.
Those types of chips are advertised as designed for the surveillance market.
FCC rules prohibit the import or sale of any device containing certain components produced by entities on the FCC’s Covered List, including Huawei and its subsidiaries.
The FCC has therefore blocked those device models from being used, marketed, or sold in the U.S., and the agency will continue to vigorously promote our country’s national security.

Frequently, we underestimate the significance of a technological innovation.
We often assume that the next big thing will just be a better version of what we have today.
This is not a new phenomenon. Henry Ford reportedly said that, if asked what they wanted, people would have said “faster horses.” Indeed, we called the first cars “horseless carriages.”
In the future, these probably won’t be called “flying cars.”
