Please look carefully at this video, which shows what was happening in the moments before a shooting that killed 18-year-old Jordan Lecky. Parents, especially of teens in northeast Orange County or Seminole County, please watch this carefully with your teenagers to see if they can identify anyone in the video. An 18-year-old is dead, and dozens of people were right there when it happened. Someone saw something. We need people to come forward to help us find the person who pulled the trigger. Just after 11 p.m. on October 17, deputies responded to the Lakeside Villas apartments at 7950 Shoals Dr. for a noise complaint about a group of nearly 100 people, mostly in their late teens, who had congregated near the pool area behind the leasing office. As the first responding deputy was approaching, he activated his lights and sirens to disperse the crowd. Several partygoers began to scatter in response – and just as that happened, the responding deputy heard a single gunshot coming from behind the leasing office. That deputy discovered a young man, later identified as Jordan Lecky, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died on October 19. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones, and our detectives want desperately to solve this case. Although dozens of people were there when the gunshot rang out, only two witnesses stayed behind to meet with deputies. They told detectives a fight broke out and then a single gunshot went off, striking Jordan. While reviewing available video of the fight, it became clear to detectives that at least a dozen bystanders were taking video of the fight with their phones. We know someone saw something that could help detectives solve this case, and we need them to come forward. Anyone with information – no matter how insignificant it may seem – please contact the OCSO non-emergency line at 407-836-4357 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. If you have any video from the fight, or the moments leading up to or after the gunshot, our detectives would like to review it. You can upload video directly through this link: orangecountysheriffsofficefl…

51-year-old Jorge De La Cruz from Kissimmee got #ArrestedByThePolkCountySheriffsOffice on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. At around 1:30 pm on Wednesday, a PCSO deputy was on I-4 near Lakeland when he noticed a 2023 Chrysler 300 weaving through traffic across multiple lanes at a high rate of speed. The Chrysler was determined to be moving at 103 mph in a 70 mph zone. A traffic stop was performed and the driver was identified as Jorge De La Cruz. According to the arrest affidavit, Mr. De La Cruz apologized for going so fast, but he said he was going to the hospital to visit his mother. Traveling over 100 mph on the interstate is definitely one way to get to a hospital, we will give him that. We also gave him a trip to the Sheriff's Processing Center and charges for Reckless Driving (M2) and Dangerous Excessive Speeding (M2).

Just because your car can go 135 miles per hour doesn't mean you should. Officer Nicholas Whisman with our Specialized Traffic Enforcement Unit was driving on I-95 when a dark car raced, and we mean raced, by. The traffic stop went from I-95 to I-10, and just before reaching the ramps to I-295, the driver finally decided to pull over and get out of the car. Behind the wheel? 22-year-old Zyon Jackson, who told Officer Whisman he was just 'enjoying his night'. Jackson was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Driving 100MPH or more, Reckless Driving, and Speeding in a Work Zone. Jackson also received a citation for driving with an open bottle of tequila in the car. To make matters worse, Jackson was speeding that fast through an active construction zone. There were workers present, and Jackson's speeding put their lives in danger. Not cool. Drive safe and sober, Duval.

To the knuckleheads thinking about using this storm's power outages and evacuations to break in, loot, or steal: don't even try it. During an emergency, these crimes become first-degree felonies, punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

NHC has a lot of confidence in the google model and its track takes the storm east of Pensacola. This Is not set in stone by any means, but the Google model has been the most accurate thus far, and always forecast a Florida landfall even when earlier this week others produced tracks as far west as Louisiana.
Latest 11am CDT NHC update. Track was bumped east (black line). Almost mirroring the Google DeepMind now. Big impacts ahead for Florida... landfall and towards the east. After that things spread north. spaghettimodels.com

I joined the @FLSheriffs on FSAcast to talk about Amendment 3, what it could mean for property taxes, local government, public safety, and essential services. I’ve spent a lot of time digging into this, but I’m not asking anyone to take my word for it. Listen to the conversation and tell me where you think I’m wrong. Challenge the assumptions. Challenge the numbers. Challenge the conclusions. If there’s a better argument or better evidence, I want to hear it. Floridians deserve a serious debate about the tradeoffs, let’s hear your thoughts. flsheriffs.org/podcast/entry…

Today, the House passed a bill that would make the National Fraud Enforcement Division (@DOJFraudDiv) a permanent force for taxpayers within @TheJusticeDept. This is great news for taxpayers and really bad news for fraudsters trying to steal from America. 🇺🇸 On to the Senate!

Yesterday, we paused to remember. 🙏 At the 2026 Florida Missing Children's Day ceremony, families, law enforcement, and the community came together to honor Florida’s missing children and recognize those who work tirelessly to bring the missing home. Behind every missing child is a family who carries their memory and love every single day. FDLE remains committed to supporting these families and working alongside our law enforcement partners to help find the missing while protecting Florida’s children. We remember those who are still missing. We honor those who never made it home. And we will never stop searching. #FloridaMissingChildrensDay #NeverForgotten
