Trayvon Martin.
He should be turning 30 today.
30.
He should have 3 decades behind him and be planning for more.
My heart goes out to his parents and family.

#UUTwitter, This election has shifted our political and expected policy landscape. Many will be tempted to withdraw their support for immigrants, migrants, refugees, and asylees in its wake.
Unitarian Universalists will not.
We reaffirm our commitment to providing support and solidarity. We have already been called to welcome the stranger. For us, like so many of our friends in faith, it is a matter of commitment to our teachings and #UUvalues.
We ALL need the reminder to @SidewithLove

Dhumavati holds a bowl of fire and a winnowing basket. The fire symbolizes destruction: all things shall pass. The winnowing basket, used to separate grain from the chaff, represents mental discrimination between the permanent and the fleeting #FairyTaleTuesday

It wasn't free but there were scholarships. Eliot's 9 year old son attended the school. Eliot is claimed by the UCC as well as Unitarian Universalists and also has an Episcopalian feast day

The Eliot Congregational Church is in Roxbury, MA named in honor of John Eliot who also founded the Roxbury Latin School in 1645.
The school was open to all boys including "such negroes [sic] or Indians [sic] as may or shall come"

Man I can’t believe the news… I just heard Pableaux Johnson died. He was a legend of culture photography. Every second line, Indian etc. He was also a very nice guy and super supportive of me. Said he had a heart attack at the second line. He loved the culture. 😞

Remembering our friend Pableaux Johnson, who passed away earlier today. Pableaux wrote about and photographed our slow roasted duck dish many years ago. It was pre-K! We still have customers dine with us today because of that article. He will be painfully missed. Our deepest sympathies to Pableaux’s loved ones. May he RIP 💔❤️🩹

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember all those murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust: 6 million Jews—2/3 of Europe’s Jewish population—millions of political dissidents and queer & trans people, and 250k Roma people.
Never again means never again for anyone.
