The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island never disappoints, especially when, just like the U.S. in the War at the Shore in 1991, the good guys win a nailbiter.
Kiawah was the host venue for the 5th annual Michael Louis Cup, a 16-man Ryder Cup-style event organized by @sandersgoodfellow (exceptional dude, mediocre golfer) and @sportslaw23 (my best bud from law school). It’s a terrific event with a great crew - fierce competition, copious smack talk, and outstanding camaraderie every night after the matches.
The good guys and defending champs (Team Brabec) got waxed by the bad guys (Team Goodfellow) by a 7-1 during the first two sets of matches. Team Goodfellow, in perhaps a bout of overconfidence, began celebrating a tad early.
Team Brabec, displaying excellent teamwork and fantastic leadership, kept things alive, cleaning up the foursomes/alt-shot matches 3.5-0.5. Still needing 3.5 out of 4 points in the final matches in high wind on the Ocean Course to retain the cup, Team Brabec got it done for the third year in a row.
Very much looking forward defending the cup next year. Thanks to all who came - seeing this great bunch of guys is what golf trips are all about.
