Yeah and Eddie is at least as regarded and respected. If anyone can scoff it’s him.

I do think it’s kinda insane to put Bernie on a Rushmore because he doesn’t have a solo special. That’s just sort of the standard of the artform. It would be like putting a musician on Rushmore who didn’t have an album. Being funny for 25min is different than doing it for 90.

How did he reach the heights? Eddie still has the most successful standup movie ever. And he was starring in blockbusters at like 22, he absolutely didn’t have to go down several paths, he just got experimental because he could do what he wanted 😭

But I mean, he was 😭 you can still be a really good comedian without being on Rushmore. You are allowed to think whoever you want is funnier, but by every metric of achievement they are not even in the same stratosphere.

How was he in competition? He was already a huge movie star not really doing standup by the time Bernie broke out. They really aren’t peers. It’s not crazy for Eddie to think he was a good comedian, just not 1 of the 4 most important.

Yeah I’d agree with that. Eddie was never a tv guy. I also think that he has no less than 5 movies funnier than Mr. 3000.

Shit, black people liked that 70s show lol Idk gang, it just seems like your rebuttal is always gonna come down to “nuh uh, Bernie was funnier” and that’s fine if you think that, it’s just goofy to then turn around talking about shit like “human impact” and refuse to measure it.

1) white people loved Bernie Mac. In fact, I don’t think after Life he was in a primarily black movie 2) so what’s the point of even saying nobody likes Ashton Kutcher if when I point out that’s factually not true you go “white peoples opinion doesn’t matter”?

Yeah, I find it weird when dudes born and raised in LA decide in their Middle Ages to make that their whole personality. Nigga was named Woody and insisted on being Akbar because he started wearing a kufi. Again though, let’s discuss other movies lmao

Like, tbh one of the worst movies Bernie was in was probably the only one he starred in.

At times yeah, the joke of the nigga who decided to get Afrocentric was decent. It’s a real performative thing I’ve seen before. Again though, we are comparing one of one guy’s worst movies to one of another guy’s best. It’s just silly as shit.

Bro I understand that you really wanna win this, but “nobody talks about Eddie Murphy standup anymore” just isn’t a serious position. Like, how do you even back up or deny that? I say nobody talks about Bernie standup and you say “nuh uh”? What are you looking for here?

Okay so what human impact are you going by then?

Current SNL, nobody. The SNL that launched the careers of Christ Rock, Adam Sandler, Bill Hader, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Robert Downey Jr? A lot of people I think.

A few. He definitely had a run even though he sucked. But again, that run was simply not bigger than Eddie Murphy’s.

Not Eddie, he didn’t outsell him lmao

Ashton Kutcher was the biggest draw on that 70s show. I don’t like him, but he was absolutely considered funny at the time. That’s why he was picked to star in several comedies.

He literally says “we were talking Mount Rushmores”. The convo was one they’d had in the past.

Aside from the accent, you are describing the script that Barris wrote. I’m not really sure how you think scripts work but there’s a good chance that was in there too tbh. Also the accent was part of the bit because his character was meant to be fucking headass.

You keep saying I’m only talking accolades or whatever, but yes Eddie Murphy also had performances talked about for decades before becoming a movie star. Like, you are the one bringing success and impact into this without anything to back it up other than you think he’s funny.
