Last weekend I was in Texas with the kind of men the left loves to call toxic. Conservatives, most of them former military, and they brought a lot of guns. I was very outnumbered. There were maybe 10 women in the whole group. I had never met any of them IRL before. I have never felt safer anywhere in my life. These men opened doors, set up my tent and provided me with what I needed to stay warm. Made sure I ate first, and kept an eye on everything so that I felt safe and welcomed. Plenty of us didn’t agree on everything, and nobody cared! Not one of them would ever lay a hand on someone over politics. I’d stake my life on that, and that weekend I sort of did. Now look at Providence Park last night. Women showed up to the Thorns game in shirts saying girls’ sports should be for girls. They protested peacefully. Leftist men assaulted them (shoving one woman down two rows of seats) screamed at them, cursed at them, threatened them, and poured beer on them These are the same men who lecture the rest of us about protecting women. They put on a “safe space” t-shirt and then go after a woman because her opinion offends them. I know which group of men I’d want around my daughter, and it isn’t the ones in Portland. (I believe the man in the bowler hat is the one who shoved a woman down two rows of seats).
