What a week at OFN42 in New Orleans! We loved the music, the conversations, and seeing our former Fahe intern thriving in her new role at OFN. Fahe President Sara Morgan joined the CDFI Women’s Network panel on Wednesday and Friday’s Scaling Solutions for Rural Homeownership discussion. Vice President of Research Katy Stigers attended Tuesday’s CDFI Research Symposium and co-facilitated Friday’s Impact, Evaluation & Research workshop with colleagues from OFN’s research team peer learning network. We were proud to bring our rural housing expertise to the table. More pictures continued in the replies! #OFN42 #CDFI #WeAreFahe

Fahe’s biggest Annual Meeting yet! 170 people came together in Huntington, WV, for three days of Learning in Motion: touring local development sites, learning new approaches to housing solutions, and honoring the champions across our network. We were excited to check in on Housing Can't Wait, Fahe's award-winning campaign and answer to the housing crisis in Appalachia, which is building real momentum. Six policy ideas developed by Members across our network are now federal law through the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. When we work together and speak up, our impact can reach Washington. The solutions are already here, and we’re just getting started. Eastern Kentucky families face some of the highest electricity rates in the nation — and costs continue to rise, undermining efforts to increase housing affordability. Fahe Member HOMES, Inc. is responding with solar-powered, net-zero homes that can bring monthly electric bills down to less than $25. After the 2022 floods, HOMES applied its solar expertise to disaster recovery, using public, private, and philanthropic resources to rebuild homes that are more affordable to live in. Read Fahe’s new case study showcasing how local trust, strategic partnerships, and practical design are helping make housing affordability last beyond closing day: bit.ly/4hwNEMv #HousingCantWait #NetZero #Solar

During @RuralLISC's Investing in Rural America community tour in western North Carolina, Fahe and Member Appalachia Service Project co-hosted a visit highlighting recovery work nearly two years after Helene. ASP shared its long-standing disaster recovery model and rebuilding work across East Tennessee and western North Carolina, while grassroots partner @RebuildnHollers shared its locally rooted approach in Burnsville, including its partnership with @heritagecougars Construction Technology program to connect rebuilding with hands-on workforce development. The tour reinforced why Housing Can’t Wait. Rural communities were already facing housing shortages before Helene, and the storm deepened that need. Recovery requires different models, strong partnerships, and resources that help communities rebuild and thrive. #WeAreFahe #StrengthInNumbers #HousingCantWait #InvestingInRuralAmerica #Appalachia
