Most RF chips are still designed the way they were twenty years ago. Last week at IEEE BCICTS 2026, we argued that’s about to change.
Falcomm's Head of AI, Alex Saad-Falcon, joined researchers from Northeastern, UT Austin and Brown and an industry voice from Cadence on the “AI in Engineering Design: Opportunities, Challenges and the Road Ahead” panel in Boston. Great questions on where AI is actually helping designers today, where it isn’t yet, and what the next generation of RF engineers should be learning.
Here’s what we’re building toward with GaNdalph.AI.
An RF chip today takes months to design. A senior engineer picks a topology, sizes transistors, draws layout, runs EM simulation, finds the result is off, and goes back around. Dozens of times. Every iteration depends on intuition that takes a decade to build, and the industry doesn’t have enough people with that decade.
GaNdalph.AI starts from the specification instead: frequency, output power, efficiency, process. It explores the design space the way an experienced designer would, but across thousands of candidates at once, with physics and electromagnetics in the loop so the results hold up on real silicon, not just in a schematic. It outputs a complete, optimized design on a real GaN process, in under an hour instead of months.
What that changes: a team can evaluate ten architectures before lunch rather than committing to one and hoping. A junior engineer gets the judgment of a senior one built into the tool. And a customer who needs a custom amplifier for a satellite or a radar gets a first-pass design in days, not quarters.

Gregory Junek, Head of Growth at Falcomm, will join the Texas A&M Student Semiconductor Summit this Thursday for the panel “Research and Innovation Outlook: From Breakthrough to Real-World Impact,” sharing our perspective on moving RF innovation from technical validation to commercial adoption.
Joining David Staack, Narasimha Reddy, Sujai Shivakumar, and Brandon Holybee, Greg will explore what happens after a promising result in the lab: validating the technology, securing funding, building partnerships, and creating a path to industry adoption and scale.
For companies like @FalcommInc, these are the steps that turn semiconductor research into technology customers can put to work. We’re looking forward to sharing our perspective and learning from others working across research, industry, and the broader innovation ecosystem.

Hard problems, big ideas, and a full room. That was #VA2026 for deep tech🚀
@VentureAtlanta brought together founders, investors, and builders from across the Southeast, and one thing stood out above everything else: the energy around #DeepTech. Semiconductors, hardware, and the hard problems that take years to solve are finally getting the spotlight they deserve. For @FalcommInc, that was the best part of the week.
To everyone who came out to the Falcomm happy hour: thank you. The conversations, the ideas, and the people made it an evening to remember🥂
This is only the beginning. Falcomm is committed to growing a stronger deep tech community right here in #Atlanta, one that brings together the engineers, founders, and investors building what comes next.
The next event is coming. Tag someone who should be in the room. 👇

To measure is to know.
That simple idea is behind Falcomm’s own lab, equipped with top of the line test equipment up to 67 GHz. It’s where Dual-Drive #PowerAmplifiers are validated and characterized, with each design tested for efficiency, linearity, gain, and output power. Since Dual-Drive technology is built around energy efficiency, measuring those numbers accurately is essential.
Having the lab in house means R&D testing happens right alongside design, so questions about performance get answered quickly. Measurement results go straight back to the designers, who use that data to refine the next iteration. That creates a tight feedback loop between design and test, with the hardware improving at every step.
For #RF hardware going into satellite, 5G, and defense systems, measured performance is what counts. Credit to the engineers who keep that feedback loop running.

Falcomm ran a live demo at #GTS2026 showing the latest capabilities of GaNdalph.ai, an AI-native design tool with first-class support for GF's RFGaN1 process. Demonstrating how a power amplifier can be designed at the speed of AI, in front of the people building the next generation of RF systems, was the best kind of validation.
@GlobalFoundries's GRFGaN1 process moving into volume production changes what's possible for power amplifier design. Pairing that with an AI design tool built specifically for it means faster iteration, faster deployment, and a real path from prototype to production instead of every design being treated as a one-off.
This is where the industry is headed. Efficient, high-power RF at scale, powered by tools that speed up the design cycle rather than just the manufacturing cycle. Proud to be building that with GF.

It is great to see @GlobalFoundries highlighting our work with GaNdalph.ai, @FalcommInc 's AI design tool built with first-class support for RFGaN1.
Falcomm built GaNdalph.ai around a simple goal: collapse the time between an idea and a working power amplifier. That means design cycles measured in days instead of months, with engineers able to iterate on architectures at a pace that was not possible before. It also means closing the gap between simulation and hardware, so what the tool predicts is what actually shows up on the bench. RFGaN1 gives that ambition a manufacturable foundation to run on at volume. Pairing a mature RF GaN process with an AI native EDA platform is how 100% simulation to hardware correlation stops being an aspiration and starts being a standard. Proud to be building toward that with GF.

Your RF system has its own requirements. Your power amplifier should too.
At Falcomm, we work directly with engineering teams to develop custom PA solutions built around the performance targets that matter most to their program.
From early design discussions through evaluation and production planning, our goal is to help teams get the RF performance they need without designing the rest of the system around the limitations of an existing amplifier.
If you are working on a new RF platform, satellite system, defense application, communications product, or another demanding program, we would love to hear what you are building.
We will be in Santa Clara September 2 and 3 for @GlobalFoundries Technology Summit 2026.
