It’s because yall keep looking at the south as a monolith. No two Black people are the same, why would two cities be the same? There’s scholarship that proves there are “multiple souths.” Theres a physical south and a cultural south. Deep South, mid south, mid Atlantic, south east, south west. South Carolina and Louisiana are different but no one is going to take away either of them being the South. Louisiana and Texas have a lot of similarities. There are people who wouldn’t claim Florida. I personally think anything Polk and north operates like Deep South and anything south of central Florida is the Caribbean south. I said to say it’s not always going to look like what you’re used to.
