People with CPTSD often do an enormous amount of emotional labor that was never asked for and rarely acknowledged. Anticipating everyone’s needs before they’re expressed. Smoothing over tension before it even surfaces. Managing the emotional atmosphere of every room they walk into. This labor is invisible because it happens preemptively, before anyone even notices there’s a problem. CPTSD trained you to do this automatically. But automatic doesn’t mean necessary.
