When we started in this #menopause #sexdifferences space ~20 yrs ago reviewers comments included “as nephrologists, whether patient is male or female not important or relevant”, so you can imagine our grant significance scores 😱 We have come a long way! ❤️ @NIDDKgov @ASNKidney

June 23rd is Global HHT Awareness Day. It's not a date that was chosen at random. June 23rd is Grace Nolan's birthday, who tragically passed away from HHT at 9 years old. Let's get loud this Sunday and spread life-saving awareness

Excited to share that our latest research published in @NatureCVR! We looked at Y chromosome genes in leukocytes and found UTY as an effector locus on the Y chromosome. Knockout of UTY promotes epigenetic changes in monocytes that promotes profibortic polarization of macrophages
Horitani and Chavkin et al. report that loss of the Y chromosome in macrophages correlates with fibroblast activation in the myocardium and deficiency in the #epigenetic regulator Uty increases fibrosis and #CardiacDysfunction. doi.org/10.1038/s44161-024-0… 👉 rdcu.be/dAD47
