Father's Day is one day, being a dad is every day. To all the dads who keep choosing to lead with love, thank you. You’re doing the most important work in the world.

In January, over 120 leaders representing fatherhood and mentorship nonprofit organizations in the Florida Responsible Fatherhood Initiative network gathered for the Florida Fatherhood Summit! The event was focused on training and enhancing services that empower fathers.

Sometimes being a Father First is about creating silly moments that can last forever in the memories of your kids. But, to make them laugh, you might have to step out of your comfort zone a little, maybe even pull out a crazy accent in the drive-thru!

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads who choose to be a Father First. It’s not always easy and it’s not always rewarding in the moment, but being a dad is the greatest job in the world. Dads, we see you and we’re proud of how you choose to love your kids.

Being a Father First is sometimes about listening. One great way to get your kids talking is to ask them each morning what they dreamed about. Maybe it will be something funny. Maybe it will be something that frightened them. Great dads are always there to listen.

Being a Father First is sometimes knowing when your kids deserve an apology. “I’m sorry” are two of the most powerful words a dad can say.

Have you ever noticed your kids watching you while you did something you enjoyed? Working out? Cleaning in the yard? Painting the shed? Invite them to join you. Sure, you may have to slow down a little or adjust your bench press, but it will make your kids feel seen.
