The ANC's recipe for the past three decades has always been simple: Keep people poor, low-educated, dependent on government grants and win elections that way. These days it only works in rural areas. In the cities, people have moved on. Gwede actually acknowledges here the ANC's shameful disregard for their own supporters.

CYRIL Ramaphosa and Panyaza Lesufi.
When Cyril Ramaphosa took over, the ANC won 61%; he did his magic and reduced it to a 30% party.
When Panyaza Lesufi took over Gauteng, the ANC were controlling that province with 54%, Panyaza Lesufi did his magic and reduced the ANC to a 21% party in Gauteng.

Auditor-General Raises Alarm Over Gayton McKenzie’s Department of Sport, Arts and Culture After R67 Million Irregular Spending And R1.68 Million Wasteful Expenditure Is Uncovered
The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, led by Minister Gayton McKenzie, has been flagged for R67 million in irregular expenditure, according to findings by the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA). The findings have raised concerns about financial management, accountability and weaknesses in internal controls within the department and its entities.
The department initially reported R10.43 million in irregular expenditure for the 2024/25 financial year, but the Auditor-General established that the actual amount was R42 million. This figure increased to R67 million in 2025/26. The AGSA warned that the amount could be higher because the Mandela Bay Theatre Complex and Robben Island Museum could not quantify their irregular expenditure.
The department's historical irregular expenditure balance also remained substantial, although it decreased from R861 million to R839 million. The Auditor-General further identified R1.68 million in fruitless and wasteful expenditure across 11 entities, alongside concerns about unspent grants, budget overspending and weaknesses in financial oversight.
Responding to parliamentary questions, McKenzie said the department had developed an audit action plan, reviewed by Internal Audit, to address the root causes of the 2024/25 audit findings. He said corrective measures were assigned to responsible programmes with deadlines and monitored through quarterly reports to departmental management and the Audit Committee. Parliament is expected to monitor progress in strengthening financial accountability.

Two Suspected Cash-In-Transit Robbers Shot and Killed in Shootout With Gauteng SAPS Tactical Response Team Following Virginia Cash-In-Transit Robbery
Two suspects have been fatally shot following a shootout with the Gauteng South African Police Service (SAPS) Tactical Response Team (TRT) on Saturday morning, 7 November 2026. The suspects were allegedly involved in a cash-in-transit robbery in Virginia, Free State, on Friday, 6 November.
The Gauteng TRT received information from the Free State TRT about the suspects, who were reportedly travelling towards Soweto. Gauteng TRT members provided backup and later spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one allegedly used by the suspects.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants allegedly opened fire on the officers, resulting in a shootout. Two suspects were fatally wounded, while the other two managed to flee the scene. No police officers were injured during the exchange of gunfire.
A 9mm pistol and an AK-47 rifle, both reportedly without serial numbers, were recovered at the scene. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) was also summoned to the scene. Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
