I may have accidentally met Russell Brand once or seventeen times where I inadvertently referred to Brand as a political colossus & mankind's preeminent thinker as he guest edited my magazine, but this sycophantic praise was my way of expressing how much I utterly detested him .

Nothing will be funnier than a carnist trying to sound intellectual while lying through their teeth to justify their own perpetual state of severe cognitive dissonance

The sad truth is a large number of people are happy to do a 'Your Party', all over again to the Greens, if it gets retweets and likes. The incentives for thoughtful political strategy are just simply not there any more, which is why long form content, books and events have NEVER been more important. It's extraordinary how you repeatedly see the same thing, with people sincerely believing their X feed is reality: Stop Brexit - because everyone secretly wants it stopped; the radical right thinking Restore will displace Farage; people involved in your party, who crashed it, dismissing the Greens - a party which actually won 4 MPs and almost 1000 councillors - as useless. From the outside all of this looks ridiculous. These spaces are built for conflict, which itself drives engagement (the point is to sell ads after all) which in turn creates seriously distorted thinking. If you think the little numbers at the bottom of these takes represent anything of significance - good luck!

I didn't want him back the 2nd time. I definitely didn't want him back the 3rd time. It's a real shame we appointed Selles, but a bigger shame we shit ourselves and went tail between legs after we sacked him. The idea was right, we need to move on from Chris Wilder
🗣️ “I’m not daft… I understand how football is. I don’t enjoy it… but you have to deal with these situations.” Chris Wilder on whether he listens to people’s opinions on the job he’s doing Listen to the full interview with the Sheffield United boss 👉 bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0pfvp…
