BREAKING: @MPRnews reports that Minnesota House GOP leader Lisa Demuth acknowledged the Repubican Party’s involvement in @nickshirleyy viral daycare video, saying, “We worked with Nick Shirley on this.” That matters, because the video has been widely framed as independent citizen journalism. Minnesota officials have said fraud investigations were already underway long before the video, and inspections have not backed up many of the claims made about the specific daycare centers shown.
Still, the video fueled widespread outrage and targeted scrutiny of Somali-owned childcare providers. With a top Republican now on record confirming coordination, this reframes the entire narrative. This wasn’t just a lone YouTuber uncovering something new. A political party acknowledges involvement in producing or shaping media that went viral (not organically) and helped drive public backlash.
Still in disbelief. Yesterday was real as much as we didn’t want it to be. So many thoughts about the assassination of Speaker Emerita Hortman, including overwhelming grief. She truly was a champion for Minnesota. I'm honored to have witnessed her grace & brilliance first hand.

The term “wasteful spending” gets thrown around a lot at the Legislature, and it’s important that we have a real conversation about what is “good” and what is “wasteful.”

When Trump said Hispanic migrants are “taking Black jobs,” what he really meant was: Black folks are taking white jobs, and we need to get the plantation back in order.
I’m from the Deep South—the 50th-ranked state in the country. A state that’s over a third Black, yet run by conservatives who always find a way to blame Black communities for its failures. So, I’m never shocked by statements like these. But I do wonder—do all the folks who like to play nice and pretend everything is fine still feel that way today?
We have a choice in how we move forward with each other. Trump should be letting the investigation play out, but he can’t help himself. He’s on a mission to restore what he and Elon see as the natural order: intelligent white men and women in charge—who, in reality, are just mediocre—backed by a handful of others who pledge their loyalty to whiteness.
At this point, I just want us to stop pretending.
And to the Black folks who never support Black leaders—is this better?
The future we want won’t build itself. It’s on us to fight for—now.
This is pretty beautiful! Punishing a kid forever is certainly not the way to cultivate well rounded adults who contribute to the society around them. This initiative is needed to give our youth the opportunity to get right something that may have gone wrong. Thank you!

This was never about issues. The economy is in great shape. Inflation is just coporate greed. More manufacturing, low unemployment. A healthy economy is supported by a 30% migrant labor force. It’s not about abortion. White women and affluent women know they can always access reproductive care. The GOP created a guest worker program because they want the migrant labor. This election was about the great replacement. A reaction to the society changing around them. The ultimate protection of white privilege. Let the retribution begin.
