4 years ago I promoted to discuss the creation of a Universal Variability Language (UVL), now is included in Feature IDE and I am trying out by myself. So happy! @splcconf #splc2022

Want to see the new version in action? Join the UVL tutorial tomorrow at #splc2022. We cover several tools that embed UVL including FeatureIDEv3.9.0. The tutorial is joint work with @k_feichtinger, @_jagalindo_, @davbencue, @RickRabiser, @ThomasThuem, and Sebastian Krieter.
v3.9.0 has been released with numerous enhancements for UVL models and improved performance for the translation of feature models into CNF: github.com/FeatureIDE/Featur… The release is joint work by University of Ulm and University of Magdeburg.

Replying to @FeatureIDE
The prepackages are now available under featureide.github.io/#prepac…. While the prepackages require Java 11 (due to Eclipse), FeatureIDE does not and happily runs under Java 8 in older Eclipse versions (e.g., 4.16). Consult the wiki (github.com/FeatureIDE/Featur…) for more information.

My new excuse for being late in meetings is that I am loading a big feature model in @FeatureIDE and my computer is frozen. #truestory

In April 2007, two students and I started the development on @FeatureIDE using #SVN. In May 2009, we published @FeatureIDE open-source under #LGPLv3 (without its former history). In 2014, I migrated the #SVN history to #git and @Github, because of these trendlines. What's next?
The interest in different version control systems in Germany over time. Why is git declining since 2019? local only: #SCCS (1972), #RCS (1982) centralized: #CVS (1986), #SVN (2000) distributed: #git (2005), #mercurial (2005) trends.google.com/trends/exp…

"As a feature modeling tool we have used @FeatureIDE. It was easy to learn, easy to handle, extremely useful from the start, and it has been convenient, fast, aesthetic and reliable ever since." Experience report by KfW starting at 7:30 CET at @splcconf dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/33820…

Enhancement #1009 is very helpful if you want to create a chain with the BeTTy framework and its advanced random feature model (FM) generator algorithms (also Java-based) @ISAGroupSevilla. If you want random FMs without special needs, FeatureIDE can also provide them to you #1008
v3.6.4 is released with contributions by Tobias Heß, Sebastian Krieter, Joshua Sprey, Chico Sundermann, Thomas Thüm, Sören Viegener, Philipp Vulpius, and Paul Westphal. The release is joint work by three research groups: @sp_uulm @isf_tubs @DBSEgroup github.com/FeatureIDE/Featur…

When reading change logs it reads as if software is only getting better which each revision. For @FeatureIDE, I started today to write honest change logs also mentioning newly introduced bugs. Hope this helps users to find the right version to work with. github.com/FeatureIDE/Featur…

A great blog post explaining why model counting (i.e., counting the number of satisfying assignments for a propositional formula) is hard and how approximate solutions can help. If you ever wondered why @FeatureIDE is so slow in counting solutions, it is using the naive solution.
Wrote a short blog on how approximate model counting works: msoos.org/2018/12/how-approx… If you always wanted to count millions of balls but had no idea how to do it efficiently, it's the prefect place to start ;)
