Hi there, thanks for reaching out! We don't have that available to keep the private channel data for its members secure, so with that said we don't have any plans to add this capability but we'll certainly take note of your feedback!

(Private Channel) a company is testing a new product or feature and early on only a few employees were discussing it (Public Channel) that feature has been released and they make the channel public so the entire organization can view previous discussions and add new comments
